Douglas Voegeli

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Doug Voegeli relocated to the mountains of western North Carolina in 1999 and now calls Greenville, NC his home. Early in life, Doug’s artistic abilities were evident - from his doodles on his homework, to the scenery he created for school plays. Receiving awards and recognition for his work throughout elementary and high school, Doug filled his schedule with every class offered in the printing and art departments. Studying Graphic Design at Triton Jr. College in River Grove, Illinois, he continued to excel in both pencil and ink illustrations while beginning to dabble in acrylic and oil painting – the doodles on his homework didn’t stop either. Growing up a big fan of Norman Rockwell and M.C. Escher, it was at the University of Illinois where Doug began to appreciate the work of the great Renaissance Masters. Career choices and the pursuit of amateur motocross racing left little time for artwork, forcing his paints and brushes to be stored away for far too long. Joining Greenville Brushstrokes in 2013, Doug dusted off his art boxes and re-discovered his enthusiasm for painting and drawing again. With a keen eye for composition, he is never far from his camera, always looking for the right image to inspire his next piece.
